Author's Favorite: Ironsworn

I love Ironsworn, but why? If I had to start small, I would say it's because of the way they handled combat, instead of having a stat block you have a progress meter that can be any kind of enemy from hordes of zombies to a single rude dude. however, I have to admit it's a bit simplistic for my liking. Ironsworn is the free to play solo tabletop Roleplaying game that comes with solo friendly design at its core, it comes with random tables that generate locations, characters and even plot twists. the tables alone make it a steal as they can generic enough to use in other settings then the default one. the only thing about Ironsworn I can say is weak is the magic system or rather the lack thereof a magic system. the vows are a neat mechanic, but I often complete the quests before the progress bar even fills in halfway. I guess am just using two simple a quest to complete? regardless Ironsworn showed me that simply writing things down can be fun and enjoyable. The Assets are like the perk system in games like Skyrim (which looks like the main inspiration in my opinion.) and can be used to make in depth character builds even for the simple system. in closing I loved playing Ironsworn and its streamlined system for roleplaying.
