Welcome to Imperfect Game, less of a review blog and more of a video game book club with only one member and today am covering Slay the Spire made and published by Mega Crit Games. Slay the Spire is a rogue like deck building game with four playable classes The Ironclad, The Silent, The Defect and The Watcher. The Ironclad focuses on having more options for high damaging attacks. The Silent being a thief with many daggers and poisons and the Defect being an orb juggling caster. The Watcher is some weird stance changing character. Their play styles are different but for some reason I never understood what the character were supposed to do gameplay wise. The Silent is my favorite to play because it makes use of poisons for crazy damage per turn.

The main gameplay loop is you start your run with a whale giving you one of four options ranging from making the first few enemies die in one hit or upgrading and/or transforming cards to gaining a random item to help progress through the game's four acts with bosses for each one. After that you progress through a map of branching paths filed with enemies and random events like a book that drains life that change every playthrough. It gives the game a great deal of replay value. Another thing of note is the Cards are unlocked for the first few dozen playthroughs per character making it even more replay-able. The enemies found in the game can become quite tough to beat as some possess debuffs and buffs that make them much harder than I thought my first time through. Some enemies have unique effects like thieves stealing your gold or Enemies that change your cards mana cost. Overall Slay the Spire is a neat little Rogue-like that can provide hours of content with its randomized dungeon crawls and many cards that offer different playstyles. This has been Imperfect Game and thank you for reading.
