Welcome to Imperfect Game, less of a review blog and more of a distraction from my Psychosis. I Am Tommy and today I am covering Touhou 16: Hidden Star in Four Seasons. It’s yet another shoot 'em up game and yet another mainline entry in the Touhou Project series. Its story is about Gensokyo having strange weather all over and the four heroines must put a stop to this strange weather by finding the culprit and stopping them. Now that story is out of the way let me start was the basics of this game. First, you have four playable characters Reimu, Marisa, Cirno, and Aya that all have a unique main shot type, Reimu has homing attacks and Marisa has penetrating laser beams, Cirno has a very wide shot type that covers most of the screen, and Aya has a somewhat wide shot that's slightly more focused but she is also has the fastest speed out of the other three. The stages themselves seem a bit boring to me actually but the bosses are the real deal which sort of makes up for the stages. There are also secondary shot types based on the season that affect this game’s Release mechanic, its default key is C and it works similar to standard bombs that clear the screen of bullets only Releases cover a smaller space and do other effects. For example, Spring has the largest coverage so it pretty much becomes a standard bomb, Fall’s coverage is smaller but it follows the character so you can dash through bullets and perform more aggressive movements. I think Winter’s just makes your shots deal more damage and Summer seems to just be very spam-able and can help at specific parts of the game so it rewards good memory of the stages, these sub-shot types also provide a portion of another character’s shot type but it barely makes a difference so your just better off using the default Season your character starts with. The Bosses for the most part are the standard for Official Touhou games not the best but far from bad. Inclosing Touhou 16 is a good entry for beginners to pick up as it was the first Steam released entry. This has been Imperfect Game and thanks for reading.
