After the party successfully stole the Catalyst Core (an essential component of OmniCorp's Super Weapon) The party brings the Core to the [[Traveler's Union]] Council to safe guard the core and keep it from OmniCorp and the [[Void Consortium]]'s hands.
GM: Were the party followed by OmniCorp or the Consortium? That heist was a bit too easy to pull off. (Oracle roll: 5)
MUNE: Yes you have been followed by them.
GM: I'll have each PC roll notice to see if they detect their pursuers.
Akiko rolls a 12 on notice.
Goro rolls a 13 on notice.
Kira rolls a 5 on notice.
Ryan and Michael both roll a 3 on notice so they don't realize their being followed.
Goro is the first to alert the party of their pursuers.
Goro: "Everyone, check the radars! we're being pursued by enemies!"
Michael: "What? are you sure?"
Akiko: "I see them on my screen...we must have been seen fleeing the scene when we took the core!"
Kira: "I see them too, damnit it must have been the cameras...even the best thief in the multiverse can't avoid everything."
Ryan: "Well, what do we do? does anyone even remember if this ship had any weapons?"
GM: This is quite a pickle, does the ship have any weapons to defend with? (Oracle roll: 4)
MUNE: Yes but...
GM: I'll let ChatGPT decide what the problem with the weapons is.
ChatGPT: As the party's ship, the Celestia Starlight, is being pursued by OmniCorp ships, the crew readies the ship's weapons to defend themselves. However, they quickly realize that something is troubling about the ship's weapons systems. They discover that the weapons are malfunctioning, and there seems to be an overriding safety protocol preventing them from firing at full capacity.
Michael: "Damnit, what happened to our weapons!?"
Akiko: "They must have been shut down prior to our capture by the Void, we never got around to fixing the damage from back then."
Upon investigation, the party learns that the weapons systems have been tampered with. It appears that a covert countermeasure has been implemented by a mysterious third party or organization, interfering with the ship's ability to unleash its full firepower. The safety protocols have been activated, seemingly to protect the ship from causing excessive collateral damage or potential catastrophic consequences.
This revelation leaves the party in a precarious situation, as they are unable to fully defend themselves against the pursuing OmniCorp ships. The disabling of their weapons poses a significant threat to the party's safety, forcing them to rely on evasive maneuvers and other creative tactics to escape the pursuers.
The party now faces an additional challenge of uncovering who or what is responsible for sabotaging their ship's weapons and why. The enigmatic presence of this countermeasure hints at a shadowy force working behind the scenes, potentially with a vested interest in the super weapon development or the party's mission to stop it.
As the Celestia Starlight hurtles through space, the party must act quickly to address the issue and restore their ship's weapons to full functionality. Time is of the essence, as the pursuing OmniCorp ships draw closer, threatening to capture or disable the party's vessel.
GM: Okay so our weapons are hindered but do they still work? (Oracle roll: 5)
MUNE: Yes the weapons still work, just at reduced power.
The Celestia Starlight is now locked into space combat with a OmniCorp PMC ship hot on their trail. The party must act now if they hope to return safely to the Union.
Ryan: "What do we do now!?"
Michael: "Hold it together Ryan, we still have a chance to escape...take the controls and I'll enter one of the turrets."
Ryan: "But I don't know how to pilot a spaceship!"
Michael: "Well neither does the rest of us so it really doesn't matter who takes the controls."
Kira: "Why? Why does no one here know how to fly a ship...Why did the Union even let us have one if we don't know shit about piloting one!?"
The party makes their way to battle stations as their ship continues to evade the OmniCorp PMC ship. As OmniCorp's draw closer to their ship.
As the chase goes on Michael inside the turret of the ship's missile launcher fires a shot directly at the PMC, despite the limited functions of the weapons they dealt a deadly blow to the PMC ship piercing right through their armor and heavily damaging the enemy ship!
Michael cheers on his success.
Michael: "Woo-hoo! I don't think we need to worry about that ship chasing us at least."
The battered PMC ship is just barely hanging in there, continuing the chase for the Core.
Michael: "Damn he's still on us after that direct hit..."
GM: I doubt this guy is alone, are there other ships chasing the party? (Oracle roll: 2)
MUNE: No, he's completely alone.
Michael: "Odd, I would expected more ships then just this one."
Michael aiming the turret fires another volley of missiles at the nearly destroyed PMC ship.
The missiles collide with the enemy ship and the ship blows up into pieces as the party escapes their pursuit.
ChatGPT: The missile connects with a resounding explosion, sending shockwaves rippling through space. The OmniCorp PMC ship rocks violently, its engines sputtering and failing. Smoke billows from the damaged areas, evidence of the critical hit. The party's accurate strike has disabled the enemy vessel's propulsion, leaving it adrift in the vast expanse.
As the Celestia Starlight pulls away from the damaged PMC ship, the crew hears a faint distress signal emanating from the enemy vessel. The PMC crew's desperate pleas for assistance and evacuation are audible through the comms.
In the aftermath of the intense battle, the party regroups in the ship's cockpit, relief and tension mingling in the air. They have successfully downed the hostile PMC ship, but the victory is tempered by the knowledge that other OmniCorp forces may still be pursuing them.
With the threat momentarily abated, the party turns their attention to their next course of action. They know they must act swiftly and decisively, as they are now a target for OmniCorp's retaliation. The chase has led them into a perilous situation, but they are determined to protect the multiverse from the dangers of the super weapon and the clandestine forces behind its development.
With their ship still intact and their spirits undaunted, the party readies themselves for the challenges that lie ahead. As they plot their next moves, they are aware that their journey is far from over and that the fate of the multiverse hangs in the balance. Their bravery, ingenuity, and unity as a team have brought them this far, and they are prepared to face whatever awaits them in the unknown reaches of space.
GM: The party escapes from the enemy but are now marked by OmniCorp for their theft of the Catalyst Core. but there was no time to worry about them as the party flies to the Nexus Citadel to bring this core to the [[Traveler's Union]] Council for safe keeping.
ChatGPT: Despite the looming threat, the party remains resolute in their mission to bring the Catalyst Core to the Nexus Citadel. The [[Traveler's Union]] Council, the esteemed leaders of the multiverse's peacekeepers, is the only place where the super weapon's potential devastation can be fully comprehended and contained.
The journey to the Nexus Citadel is fraught with tension and anticipation. The party members stay alert, their eyes scanning the void for any signs of pursuit from OmniCorp. Inside the ship, the air is heavy with a mix of exhaustion, exhilaration, and a touch of uncertainty.
In the midst of the quiet, Michael Hunter, the seasoned occult detective, takes a moment to reflect on the events that led them to this pivotal point. He examines the Catalyst Core, studying its arcane symbols and ancient design. The artifact exudes a powerful aura, and its presence on their ship serves as a constant reminder of the immense responsibility they now bear.
Ryan Roads, the skilled traveler with a heart of gold, joins Michael in his contemplation. The two share a moment of silent understanding, recognizing the gravity of their mission and the sacrifices that may lie ahead.
Kira Tsukino, the sharp and resourceful Lunari, takes her place beside them, her eyes alight with determination. She knows that the party's actions have set in motion a series of events that will forever change the course of their journey. She is prepared to face whatever challenges await them, even if it means confronting the full might of OmniCorp.
Goro Tanaka, the gentle giant with a fierce spirit, anchors the party with his calm and unwavering resolve. He stands with his allies, ready to protect them with his Shinto magic and powerful spirit.
Akiko Nakamura, the ingenious inventor and doctor, tends to the ship's systems with meticulous care. She has used her expertise with Aether Shards to aid the party time and again, and now, she focuses on ensuring their vessel remains at peak performance.
As the Celestia Starlight approaches the Nexus Citadel, a sense of relief washes over the party. They are finally within reach of the [[Traveler's Union]] Council, a safe haven where the Catalyst Core can be secured and studied.
Upon arrival, the party is greeted by the Council's members, who recognize the urgency and importance of their mission. The Council commends the party for their courage and resourcefulness in the face of great peril.
With the Catalyst Core now in the hands of the [[Traveler's Union]], the party is granted a moment of respite. They are offered rest, resupply, and access to the Citadel's vast repository of knowledge. However, they know that their journey is far from over.
The party's actions have set in motion a series of events that will shape the fate of the multiverse. The specter of OmniCorp looms on the horizon, and the party members must prepare for the challenges that lie ahead. The safety of the multiverse now rests on their shoulders, and they are determined to face whatever trials await them with unwavering resolve and unity.
Council member: "Thank you Travelers...but I fear OmniCorp's plan is still in motion. We understand that you have other work to attend to so we'll leave you to your own devices for now and call if we need further aid. Am sure you all have your own work to focus on."
GM: The party finally finish up their work with OmniCorp and can now return to their first mission, gathering the Fragments of the Seal and defeating the Terror that runs free. While time is limited the party sees their chance to prepare some things.
Michael Heads to the local gunsmith to pick up his order, it cost almost all his Aether shards but for this order it was worth it. As he picks up his new custom revolver Soulbane from the store.
Gunsmith: "As you can see all craftsmanship if of the highest quality, has runes and engravings as requested by you should let this weapon be a protector from the dark. Made of pure silver and having the ability to fire elemental rounds should make this gun deadly to man and monster alike. Is there anything else you want?"
Michael: "No, I think this will do nicely...here's your shards."
Gunsmith: "Glad to be doing business with you, Hunter. Hope to see you again real soon."
Meanwhile Ryan has his own troubles with his equipment, more specifically his Travel Driver. It was turned off when he was captured by the Void and so he needed Akiko's help it returning it to full power.
Akiko: "I managed to get it mostly functional again, but sadly it's still locked in a safety mode."
Ryan: "What's that mean?"
Akiko: "It means you'll have to keep coming back to my workshop if you want to regain the driver's full power. But it's basic functionality should work again."
Ryan: "Thanks Doc, am just guess it wasn't permanently broken."
The Driver was returned to Ryan and is placed on his waist again, it's gem glowing with power once more. Ryan after putting his driver on notices a glowing scarf on a table nearby in Akiko's workshop. He turns to ask Akiko about it.
Ryan: "What's that scarf doing in your workshop Akiko?"
Akiko: "Oh that? That is my latest creation, but it's not ready for field usage. It's made of Aether Shards and I believe one day I'll be able to control time with it?"
Ryan: "A scarf that controls time? How's that even possible?"
Akiko: "Aether is a very useful resource, it's uses are practically endless."
The party reunites in the bridge of the ship and are greeted by a familiar face in the form of a Celestial Pixie named Hikari. She materializes in the room in a glow of starlight and cheers as he enters the room.
Hikari: "Hello again, how's the Traveler's life been treating you all?"
Michael: "About as well as I could expect."
Ryan: "We're doing great, we just stopped a evil megacorp from building their super weapon by stealing a core from them."
Kira: "We? sorry but it was ME that stole the core, you guys just played dress up for a day and called it work."
Akiko: "If I recall correctly I've aided in your theft by distracting everyone with a little Aether devices."
Goro: "It matters not how did the most work, a team survives on all it's members."
Hikari: "So the crook actually did some good for the team, I guess having a thief pays off sometimes. Oh Michael, is that a new gun I see?"
Michael: "Oh this, it's just my custom weapon I ordered from a local gunsmith. Cost a pretty penny but it's going to pay for it's self in no time."
Kira: "What? you jerk, you should have told me you were getting a custom made gun...I only have this hillbilly shotgun the Traveler's gave me."
Michael: "You didn't ask so I assumed you wouldn't care, besides I thought you valued Aether more then weapons?"
Kira: "That was before I got roped into helping you guys, I may need a better weapon seeing how we're now being stalked by a power mad megacorp even across universes."
Hikari: "Don't you guys have another mission to focus on, it's great you managed to hinder a super weapon's development but a dimensional terror is still on the loss!"
Ryan: "We're still finding the rest of the fragments of the Seal of Eternity, so far there was no sign of that monster."
Michael: "No sign? We all saw the rifts being opened up by that thing!"
Hikari: "Well I came here to give up all your reward for halting that super weapon's development, Here 500 Aether Shards for everyone!"
Hikari throws Aether Shards everywhere for the party to pick up.
Hikari: "I'd love to stay and see how your next quest goes but I have other Traveler business to attend to so bye bye!"
She disappears in a flash of light.
Michael: "Well that was fast, we got a decent amount of Shards so how about we shop for supplies."
The party heads to the general goods store buy some supplies.
After they are finished they enter their ship and head off to the largest energy readings that match that of the Seal of Eternity.
GM: Am going to generate a new world for the party to travel to using ChatGPT to help.
GM: Some time after generating the world we got one called the Yokai Yokohama, a mix between supernatural beings and east Asian culture. It should prove a lovely addition to our multiverse.
Akiko picks up a distress signal coming from a world called the [[Arakuni Province]] located at the heart of the region. The Traveler's Database shows this world has already registered and it's basic information was assessable via her Nexus Locator.
Akiko: "This world is known as Yokai Yokohama, it not only has the same energy readings as the Seal of Eternity, there is also a distress signal being picked up."
Ryan: "So they need help?"
Michael: "I already got side tracked doing work for Techtopia, so I'd prefer if we got back to collecting these fragments over doing side work."
Goro: "Did I hear that right? Yokai?"
Akiko: "Yes, just when I thought I've seen everything we encounter a Yokai world."
Michael: "In other words demons right?"
Akiko: "Not all Yokai are demons, but I imagine all demons could count as Yokai."
Ryan: "Wait, isn't Kira a Yokai rabbit?"
Kira: "That's just an Earthling term used by the Japanese to categorize supernatural creatures. So really I would be more of an Alien then a Yokai."
Ryan: "But your a name's Japanese right, aren't you also Japanese."
Kira: "Why are you pestering me with these dumb questions?"
Akiko: "Enough Pickering you two, we have a fragment to find."
The ship enters orbit and into the outskirts of the city, they land and have to walk about a few miles until they enter the city proper.
GM: Let's have the AI describe the city.
AI Prompt: The party enters Yokai Yokohama via the outskirts, what do they all see when they first arrive?
ChatGPT: As the party's airship descends toward the outskirts of Yokai Yokohama, they are greeted by a breathtaking panorama of natural beauty juxtaposed with an air of mystique. The outskirts of the city blend seamlessly with the picturesque landscapes of [[Arakuni Province]], creating a mesmerizing first impression.
**1. Lush Forests:** The outskirts are dominated by lush, dense forests that seem to stretch endlessly. Towering ancient trees stand tall, their branches forming a natural canopy over the ground below. Vibrant foliage in shades of emerald green and fiery reds captivate the eye, while the air is filled with the scent of earth and blossoms.
**2. Whispering Streams:** Meandering through the forests, crystal-clear streams glisten under the rays of the sun. The soft, soothing sound of water adds to the tranquil atmosphere, inviting travelers to pause and enjoy the serenity.
**3. Enigmatic Shrines:** Occasional glimpses of hidden shrines dedicated to yokai and nature deities peek out from within the foliage. These sacred places are adorned with colorful lanterns and small offerings, exuding an air of reverence and ancient wisdom.
**4. Ethereal Light:** As dusk approaches, faint glimmers of ethereal light dance amidst the trees, illuminating the outskirts with a soft, otherworldly glow. This mysterious phenomenon is attributed to the presence of yokai spirits that emerge at twilight.
**5. Scattered Yokai:** Observant eyes might catch glimpses of various yokai from afar. Mischievous kitsune dart among the branches, while serene kappa occasionally surface from the streams. Their presence adds an air of enchantment to the otherwise tranquil surroundings.
**6. The City on the Horizon:** As the party travels deeper into the outskirts, the towering cityscape of Yokai Yokohama emerges on the horizon. The spires and rooftops of the city peek above the tree line, hinting at the mystical wonders and hidden secrets awaiting them within.
The outskirts of Yokai Yokohama set the stage for the party's adventure in this enchanting realm. With its blend of natural beauty and supernatural intrigue, the city beckons them to explore its depths, uncover its mysteries, and navigate the delicate coexistence between humans and yokai.
GM: The party began moving on foot towards both the energy reading of the fragment and the distress signal. Are they both coming from the same place? (Oracle roll: 6)
MUNE: Yes, and they point to the exact same place. +1 Intervention point.
Akiko holding her Nexus Locator out to scan the area. Tells her team about the status of the search.
Akiko: "Weird, it seems where ever the fragment is, their in the same location as the distress signal."
Ryan: "Is that bad?"
Akiko: "I don't know yet, but it's possible who ever found it knew it was important and may be signaling to the Traveler's to pick it up."
Michael: "Nah that would be too easy to be likely."
Akiko: "Well there is only one way to find out and that's by traveling to the source of the signal."
GM: Does the party encounter any enemies or conflict on their way to the city? (Oracle roll: 3)
MUNE: No, but they do see many Yokai around them on their way to the city. Maybe they see the sun start to set and they need to camp for the night.
Ryan: "Wow, I never thought I'd see stuff like this."
Michael: "It's one of the nicer worlds I've visited...I wouldn't mind coming here more often."
Goro: "It's as if nature itself has blessed this world."
Kira: "My feet are killing me...can we rest now?"
Michael: "Well, I doubt it would be wise to face possible danger without resting first...Okay I say we camp."
GM: And so the party camps out for the night. Ryan cooks, Michael gets the campfire going and the others simply chat for a bit. after a good meal the party goes to bed. Does anything happen during the night? (Oracle roll: 6)
MUNE: Yes, and it's a Yokai attack!
GM: Okay first I need to create a campsite battle map and some yokai tokens.
_A day or so of making maps and enemies later...
GM: Okay the party is being ambushed by nine Yokai, it's during the late night and the fire is still burning in the campfire. Sense most of the party is asleep in their tents I think this will impact their Notice rolls with a -2 to succeed.
Kira rolls a 2.
Goro rolls a ace and gets 14 on his wild die.
Akiko rolls a 5.
Michael rolls a 4.
Ryan rolls a -1 due to his clueless hinderance.
GM: While most of the party was awake and notice the incoming yokai attack Ryan and Kira were pasted asleep and in their tents. They will miss a turn for that. Goro is the first to notice the yokai and warns the others that yokai were coming up on their camp.
Goro: "Everyone get up, there are enemies upon us!"
GM: While everyone heard Goro Kira and Ryan are both still in bed making it slow for them to react. Akiko and Michael however are up and ready to defend themselves from the coming horde of yokai.
GM: The battle was quick and deadly, while Michael had a close call it was easily remedied with a healing potion from Akiko. Despite being delayed in combat Kira channeled her magic into powerful volleys of arrows and dealing death to her enemies at a steep Mana cost. Goro faired well but didn't land a single hit in. Ryan spent most of the encounter shaken due to the fury of the Kasha yokai attacking him as he exited his tent. While the battle is over and the party victorious their resources are used up and the party's rest was interrupted by the struggle. But did the yokai leave any items behind? (Oracle roll: 3)
MUNE: No, but they did offer some experience to the party. Enough to advance in their rank and gain the benefits that offers.
Akiko gets the Healer Edge adding +2 to all healing rolls.
Goro gets Nerves of Steel which let him ignore 1 point of wound penalties.
Ryan gets Hard to kill which let's him roll vigor rolls without wound penalties on the bleed out table when downed.
Michael gets Trademark Weapon applied to Soulbane which gives it a +1 to shooting rolls and gives Michael +1 parry when this gun is equipped.
Kira gets extraction which negates one adjacent attacker's free fighting roll when she leaves melee range.
GM: While am thinking it's a bit early for the party to gain these boons I'll allow it and simply send stronger goons after them. Let's ask MUNE another question first, Is it daytime right now? (Oracle roll:6) +1 Intervention point!
GM: We got three Intervention points, which means MUNE triggers an Intervention! let's roll on the Intervention table and see what we get. (Table roll: 2) meaning entity positive, which means something good happens to an entity I listed in a sperate text file. Which is also a table to roll on. (Table roll: 6) It landed on the Cult of Shadowed Veil, the same cult that took the life of Michael's partner Sue Smith. Perhaps the cult was behind the recent yokai ambush? (Oracle roll: 1)
MUNE: No, and there is proof. There is a note hidden in the pockets of the ringleader of Yokai.
GM: I think we just encountered a local faction of this world. Am going to use ChatGPT to create a new faction in this world.
_A single session of using ChatGPT later...
GM: Okay the party picks up the note and later find out that it was a list of instructions to attack any Traveler's entering the region. The note also details of a council of yokai that seem to be the ringleaders of this attack against the party. I almost forgot my initial Oracle question! it seems the night is still going and the party will rest after all so they recover their wounds and Power Points.
_One long rest later...
GM: The party rested well and mostly recovered from last night's battle, they pack up and began traveling again to try and reach the city where the energy signal and distress signal reside. Does the party make it to the city without further trouble? (Likely Oracle roll:6) that's another Intervention point gained.
ChatGPT: As the party's walks into Yokai Yokohama, they are greeted with a mesmerizing sight that blends the mystical with the modern. The city sprawls around them, a breathtaking tapestry of vibrant colors, grand architecture, and ethereal landscapes.
_These are the locations the AI generated.
**The Enchanted Skylines:** Towering buildings with traditional Japanese architecture soar into the sky, adorned with intricate wooden carvings and glowing paper lanterns that illuminate the streets below. The city's architecture fuses ancient yokai influences with the cutting-edge technology of a cyberpunk metropolis, creating a unique and harmonious blend of old and new.
**Yokai-Marked Structures:** Yokai-themed structures and shops stand side by side with cybernetic businesses. Ancient temples and shrines dedicated to revered yokai are nestled between towering neon billboards and futuristic holographic displays. In this city, both yokai and technological advancements are revered and integrated into daily life.
**Streets of Wonder:** As the party walk towards their signal they discover bustling streets filled with yokai and humans going about their daily routines. Colorful stalls offer a wide array of unique goods, from traditional yokai charms to futuristic gadgets, creating a lively atmosphere of commerce and intrigue.
**Harmonious Commotion:** The harmony between humans and yokai is palpable as they mingle harmoniously on the streets. Yokai merchants with enchanting wares exchange friendly banter with humans who seek supernatural protection or blessings. The constant flow of conversation in multiple languages fills the air with a sense of cultural diversity and shared understanding.
**Mystical Nature:** Despite the urban setting, nature and the supernatural remain an integral part of Yokai Yokohama. Lush, enchanted gardens and serene parks coexist alongside bustling city blocks, offering a tranquil respite amid the energetic pace of the metropolis. Yokai spirits, ranging from playful kitsune to enigmatic tengu, occasionally manifest as ethereal wisps or shadows, adding an air of mystery to the city's ambiance.
**The Veil of Equilibrium:** The party notices a subtle, but unmistakable, sense of tranquility and balance pervading the city. Thanks to the mysterious power of the [[Azure Veil Society]], the Veil of Equilibrium prevents mundane humans from perceiving the more fantastical aspects of Yokai Yokohama. This veil of concealment preserves the harmony between the two worlds and keeps the city's true nature hidden from prying eyes.
GM: I wondered how the Veil of Equilibrium worked so I asked ChatGPT about it and it said...
AI Prompt: Does the Veil of Equilibrium affect how normal humans see the yokai?
ChatGPT: Yes, the Veil of Equilibrium does indeed affect how normal humans see the yokai in Yokai Yokohama. The mysterious power of the [[Azure Veil Society]] shrouds the true nature of the yokai from mundane human perception. As a result, regular humans wandering through the city perceive the yokai as ordinary individuals or animals, completely unaware of their supernatural nature.
For instance, a playful kitsune might appear to be an ordinary fox, a graceful tengu could be seen as an unremarkable bird, and a fearsome oni could be mistaken for an imposing human figure. This concealment preserves the delicate balance of coexistence between humans and yokai, preventing unnecessary fear, panic, and potential conflicts that could arise from humans discovering the truth.
The Veil of Equilibrium operates subtly, ensuring that the yokai's true appearances and magical abilities remain hidden from mundane human eyes, creating an illusion of a normal city where both humans and yokai peacefully coexist. However, those who possess supernatural abilities, like the party members, or individuals with special knowledge can still perceive the yokai's true forms, seeing the vibrant and mystical world that lies beneath the Veil.
GM: Okay so to normal humans the yokai look like either animals or normal humans...but does the party see through this veil due to being Travelers? (Likely Oracle roll: 4)
MUNE: Yes, but they can't let the normal humans know.
Akiko speaks up to the group.
Akiko: "According to the Union's data about this place, humans and yokai coexist in harmony...mostly due to a magical veil that changes the perception of the yokai into more mundane forms."
Ryan: "But we can see them just fine."
Akiko: "Travelers are excluded from the veil's magic but must keep the existence of this veil secret from the humans here as part of the 'Azure Traveler Pact' formed when this world first joined the Union."
Michael: "So the yokai had to gaslight their own world just to keep the peace...totally not a accident waiting to happen, surely the humans would have caught on by now."
Akiko: "It also says failure to comply to this pact would result in quite some trouble...they may even revoke your status as a Traveler at worst."
Michael: "What!? Their that serious about this?"
Kira: "Does the veil effect me, am more of an Alien then a yokai but wouldn't I turn some heads with my rabbit ears."
Goro: "We should focus on the mission, maybe these people are in danger from the dimensional terror."
Michael: "Yeah that's right, we can discuss this later. For now we focus on the fragment."
Akiko: "And the distress signal."
They tracked down the signals throughout the city as they saw the sights.
GM: Do they encounter anything unusual on their way to the signals? (Oracle roll: 5)
MUNE: Yes they do.
GM: Am gonna consult ChatGPT for an answer to MUNE's question.
_One quick prompt into ChatGPT later...
GM: Okay ChatGPT give me six possible encounters so am gonna roll a d6 to choose one randomly.
ChatGPT: Hidden within a secluded alley, the party discovers a small shrine dedicated to a powerful guardian yokai.
Goro stops them and points out the shrine.
Goro: "Look a guardian shrine, let's pay respects...maybe we'll be blessed on our journey."
Ryan: "Dude am a Christian, I can't be praying at a shrine to some random false god."
Michael: "Oh come on Ryan, it's Japan...they mostly have religion as a tradition here."
Akiko: "Hey don't start spreading rumors about Japan...and besides we're not in Japan we're in a another world."
Kira: "The Moon Kingdom also practice praying at shrines to gain boons..."
Michael: "Look if your that scared for your soul just don't pray at the shrine, but as someone who knows religion is a scam I doubt god will give half a shit about you praying anyways."
Ryan: "Dude, your going straight to hell if that's your attitude about god man."
GM: The party ultimately decides if they want to pray or not at the shrine. Akiko, Goro and Kira all pray at the shrine. For this short exchange of dialogue I decide they all earned 2 bennies each for the roleplay. Plus they mostly ran out of bennies last fight.
GM: They make it to the location of the distress signal and the energy signal of the next fragment of the Seal of Eternity. I will quietly use ChatGPT to render what the party sees. They see a towering building near the signals detected on the Nexus Locator.
ChatGPT: The building rises gracefully into the sky, with a blend of reflective glass panels and smooth indigo-hued walls. Its shape resembles a slender tower, symbolizing both its prominence and its connection to the mystical world. Soft, silver-blue lights gently illuminate the exterior at night, lending an ethereal aura to the Tower.
GM: I imagine a sign is nearby saying in Japanese "The [[Veilwatch Tower]]".
ChatGPT: The entrance to the [[Veilwatch Tower]] is deceptively ordinary, featuring a large, polished glass door engraved with intricate yokai-inspired patterns. Two stone lion statues flank the entrance, serving as both guardians and a nod to traditional Japanese architecture.
Ryan is in awe of the architecture and designs.
Ryan: "Wow, this is so cool! I've always wanted to visit Japan at least once!"
Michael: "You could just go to Japan yourself...you are a Traveler you know."
Ryan: "Oh yeah, your right."
Akiko: "It seems where ever the distress signal and the fragment energy signal is it's inside this building."
Kira: "Why do I feel a bit worried now...if someone in this building has it we can't be sure to trust they're using the fragment for anything good."
Goro: "You lack faith in people, for all we know the owner of the distress signal is simply reporting a found artifact to the Union out of the kindness of their heart."
ChatGPT: Upon stepping inside, the party finds themselves in a sleek and minimalistic reception area. White marble floors are complemented by tasteful wooden accents, creating an ambiance of serenity and elegance. A discreet, holographic display welcomes visitors and guides them to the proper destinations.
GM: They go up to the receptionist and chat with them.
Akiko is first to ask the receptionist.
Akiko: "Hello, may we all look around your building? we're Travelers from the Union and we are searching for a distress signal coming from inside the building your working in."
Receptionist: "Oh you must be the ones our leader has been waiting for...he mentioned using a distress signal for the [[Traveler's Union]] in the last meeting. Just take the elevator to the top floor and go to the room at the end of the hallway. Please enjoy your stay!"
GM: The party follows the directions and enter the lobby in search of the elevator.
ChatGPT: The lobby opens up to a magnificent atrium that stretches upward through multiple floors. Intricate glass art installations hang from the ceiling, resembling wisps of mystical energy frozen in time. A central water feature, surrounded by floating lanterns, adds an element of tranquility, while an ornate bonsai garden brings a touch of nature into the heart of the Tower.
GM: They find a elevator after some time searching and they take it up to the top floor. They enter the room at the end of the hall just as told by the receptionist, they enter through the door and see... Something I want to ask the Oracle is do they find him? (Likely Oracle roll:5)
MUNE: Yes they find him.
GM: Who you might be asking? Well let's find out.
GM: Before the party could enter the room they see a young man's silhouette Infront of the large windows in this observation room. A small black cat turns it's head up from their nap to look at the Travelers who just appeared behind their owner. The young adult man turns from his gazing and spots the party who has just walked into the room and smiles. He had golden hair and a traditional robe on with detailed patterns depicting yokai. He walks up to the cat and picks them up and holds them in his arms as he pets the cat lovingly. he finally spoke to the Travelers with a calm and relaxed tone of voice that's smooth to the ears.
???: Well met Travelers, I hope the trip wasn't too much problem for you...am sure the Kurogane Clan was sure to give you their welcome. But seeing that your all still alive proves to me that your help would definitely be potent.
Michael is the first to speak as team leader of the party.
Michael: "So you speak English...that's mighty convenient...were you the one that sent that distress signal?"
???: "Yes, I have something you may be interested in seeing.
The man pulls out from his robe a shard that looks familiar to the party.
Akiko: "That must be a fragment of the Seal of Eternity!"
???: "Yes, I believe it is."
Michael: "So your calling for us to pick it up then."
???: "No, actually I've called you for a more pressing matter."
Michael: "What? That shard is needed to stop a dimensional terror you can't just keep it for yourself!"
???: "I am aware of the recent release of such a monster, but I need this shard as leverage to make a deal with a group of Traveler's such as yourselves."
Ryan: "Leverage? like what your only going to give it up when we do something for you?"
???: "Exactly, but forgive my rudeness for not introducing myself. My name is Eien no Yoru, am the leader of the Azure Veil Society, this organization aims to keep the balance between humans and youkai from tipping too far from any one side."
Kira: "What's the point in that? shouldn't a human like you want the yokai gone? Michael your the expert in monsters here you explain this to me."
GM: Let's have Michael roll Occult to see if he notices anything unusual about Eien. He rolls a 7, he knows the truth behind Eien.
Michael: "Balance my ass, your one of the yokai! What's a yokai got to gain from balancing the world around them?"
Eien: "Sharp eyes, but I can do without the hostility. Despite what you think there is a good reason for a yokai to want balance with the humans...we must depend on one another."
GM: Am thinking Michael as had enough of this yokai's talk and he threatens Eien with his revolver for the fragment of the Seal. This requires a intimidation roll. He rolls a 1 so I don't think it goes well.
Michael: "Enough of this." Michael draws his gun and points it at the yokai man and says "You can give up the shard or I can take it from your corpse!"
Eien: "Ha! just because your a skilled hunter doesn't mean you can threaten me. Am much more powerful then you think. Besides am an ally of the Traveler's Union, I don't think your Union is going to like it if you shoot down their main ally in this world."
Ryan: "Michael take it easy! we're Travelers we can't just shoot down someone for no reason."
Michael: "He is interrupting our mission for his own gain, that's plenty reason to use force!"
Ryan: "But we don't even know his motive for taking the shard yet, shouldn't we at least hear him out?"
Goro: "I too am curious about this man's motive and if he truly is an ally to the Union it would be our duty as Travelers to aid him."
Kira: "I hate not knowing something, I side with Goro here."
Akiko: "Just humor him for now Michael, if he betrays us later we can use that as a casus belli for shooting him."
Michael reluctantly puts away his Soulbane.
Michael: "Damnit."
Eien: "Allow me to explain myself, The reason I called for Travelers isn't just for returning this fragment to you...you see a rogue element known as the Kurogane Clan has been a thorn in my Society's side for a while now...from the looks of your clothes I'd say you've already met them. You see this Clan seeks the opposite of what my Society and the Union wants for Yokai Yokohama, we seek peace and harmony...they seek for total yokai rule over the land."
Ryan: "So you want us to stop them?"
Eien: "Yes, or at least stop their current leader Ryujin. While my Society does have capable people willing to hinder the Kurogane Clan we really need more people to aid us. Especially if one of those people happened to be a yokai expert."
Eien points towards Michael as he says this.
Michael: "Me?"
Eien: "The Kurogane Clan is made entirely of yokai, from the looks of your revolver your no stranger to hunting yokai."
Michael: "Well I am well versed in the supernatural but I still need that fragment from you."
Eien: "Don't worry, I'll hold on to it until after you dealt with Ryujin. Consider it like a friendly deal between friends."
Ryan: "Whose Ryujin?"
Eien: "He used to be a guardian of Yokai Yokohama, but his thirst for power grew too large for his own good and started attacking humans and Travelers. He is the current leader of the Kurogane Clan. The Kurogane Clan has always been a problem but never this bad. You see Ryujin recently uncovered a power cursed sword from one of the ruins around the Arakuni Province, this blade warped Ryujin's mind and now his even more power hungry then before. His men attack any human or Traveler that enter his territory."
Ryan: "Oh okay, that just means we fight him and break his sword so no one can use it again."
Eien: "If only it were so simple...This weapon can't be allowed to exist, it's corrupting influence will survive even the weapon's destruction. Only the three Sealing Stones can banish the weapon to another plane where it will be safe from the wrong hands."
Michael: "Sealing stones? Where are those?"
GM: Does Eien know the location of the stones? (Oracle Roll: 4)
MUNE: Yes, but their guarded by Ryujin's men.
Eien: "There are shrines around this city that hold the Sealing Stones but they are guarded by more of Ryujin's men...in fact I believe one shrine has been his private headquarters for some time now, much to the priest's dismay."
Akiko: "Do you know where these shrines are?"
Eien: "Yes, I can mark it on your map if you have one. if not I'll simply give you a copy of my map with the shrines marked."
GM: And so the party gain a map of the shrines and are expected to face off against Ryujin's men who guard the Sealing Stones. Michael and the others begin planning around these shrines thinking of a plan of action.
Michael: "We should leave Ryujin's shrine for last as we don't know how dangerous the cursed sword is without the Sealing Stones."
Ryan: "But wouldn't beating him first make the other men at the other shrines leave?"
Michael: "I doubt it would work like that, this isn't like a video game where you just have to fight the boss...These guys don't simply disappear when the leader does."
Akiko: "I have to agree with Michael on this one...we should not carry a cursed weapon without the means of dispelling it's dark magic."
Ryan: "Okay, I guess we have to fight them all before Ryujin."
GM: The party pack up and leave the Azure Veil Society's building and make their way towards the first shrine. But do they encounter anything on the way to the first shrine? (Oracle Roll:6) + 1 Intervention point.
MUNE: Yes, and...
GM: I don't quite know what the party should encounter so let's ask the MUNE Oracle again. Is it more of Ryujin's men? (Oracle Roll:2)
MUNE: No.
GM: Okay am going to let ChatGPT decide what the party encounters, so give me a sec.
ChatGPT: The Neko Cafe.
GM: Okay the AI generated a nice Neko Cafe for the party to rest at. I like the ideal of visiting such a cafe so am going to roll with it.
GM: The party traveled closer to one of the shrines but on the way they find a Neko Cafe. The sign says "Where the cats roam free." Kira takes a interest in this cafe.
Kira: "Look it's a cute cat cafe!"
Michael: "We have a job to do, why are you thinking of going to a cat cafe at a time like this?"
Akiko: "Actually Michael we could use the break, we can't fight to our fullest if we simply enter one fight after the last."
Michael: "Fair enough...but I think we would stick out like a thumb with the locals."
Ryan: "Dude...it's a cat cafe, who cares if we stick out?"
Goro: "I admittedly would also like to see the cats."
Kira: "That's four people who agree that we should go and only one that wants to miss out...Yup we're going to the cat cafe!"
GM: Despite Michael's initial reluctance the party enters the Neko Cafe. Inside they see a lot of yokai in humanoid forms hiding among the human visitors of the cafe. The Veil keeps the true forms of the yokai hidden but their features still hint at their true forms. As they enter the place they are greeted by a kitsune fox woman with a peppy disposition.
Fox Girl: "Why hello and welcome to Neko Cafe, where the cats roam free! are you ready to be seated?"
GM: Am curious about this woman's name, does she have a name tag? (Likely Oracle Roll: 5 & 6) +1 intervention point. That makes three points total, an intervention happens. but first we handle the name tag situation.
MUNE: Yes, And it's Romanized. Her name is Momoko Summers
GM: Now we handle the Intervention.
MUNE: Intervention roll: Advance Plot OmniCorp super weapon.
GM: Seems their is an update on the OmniCorp super weapon plot.
GM: As the party is seated at a large table Akiko's Nexus Locator receives a message from the Union regarding the Super Weapon OmniCorp was working on. Am going to ask the oracle if it's bad or not. (Oracle Roll:6) + 1 Intervention point.
MUNE: Yes it's bad and their is more!
GM: Seems our earlier mission at Techtopia has developed sense we gave the Union the Catalyst core. Am going to ask MUNE if this has anything to do with the Fragments of the Seal of Eternity. (Likely Oracle Roll:3&6) +1 Intervention point.
MUNE: Yes, and...
GM: Am going to relay on ChatGPT again for this one, am going to try and determine what exactly is happening.
ChatGPT: The current problem that has arisen is that a rogue faction, separate from the original group they disrupted during their previous mission, has taken control of the partially developed super weapon. Despite the party's efforts to delay its development, the faction managed to salvage and rebuild it, and they now have the potential to unleash its destructive power on unsuspecting worlds.
The Traveler's Union has intercepted distress signals from a recently attacked world, and the signs point to the rogue faction using the super weapon as the cause of the devastation. The situation is dire, and the party's previous knowledge and experience with the weapon make them the best-suited team to intervene and put an end to the threat once and for all.
GM: The party listen to a recorded message discussing the new rogue element to the super weapon situation. Seems a new faction has taken the plans of the super weapon and has rebuilt it using what appears to be a fragment of the Seal of Eternity to power this destructive weapon. but why they chose to do this is still up in the air.
Ryan: "We have to go stop these guys, the cafe and Ryujin is going to have to wait."
Michael: "It seems we have more pressing matters then this city's trouble...we'll have to comeback after we deal with this weapon."
Akiko: "Perhaps after resting here we can investigate this, I still stand on resting before rushing into our next mission blindly."
Michael: "Seems we're stuck between a rock and a hard place...but I see the wisdom in resting first."
GM: Realizing they are still tired they rest up in the Neko Cafe first before rushing in their next mission.
