Savage Worlds Fantasy Campaign #2

Authors Note

This entry should start the rest of the party as before we had only a single character, since most DnD modules expect a full party I quickly found Colin was outmatched on his own but this works out quite well as now I have a full party of adventurers with their own stories to tell. Despite using a premade module I deviated from the original story for short while due to fleeing the BBEG last entry. It's good to be updating the blog again even for just a small project like this.

Chapter 2 - Banding together.

It's been a whole day since Colin fled from the Warlock and the bandit leader. He was outmatched, that much he knew...he needed help if he was to try and take back the stolen gems. The Dwarves were able to gather some able-bodied adventurers for the job. A catfolk brawler, an Elven Healer, A Goblin Gunner, and lastly a witch hunter. Colin woke up to the news and soon the party would unite and make haste towards the bandit leader's tent, they intended to make the leader spill the beans on where the Warlock would be hiding out.

When they made it to the camp they were lucky to find only the leader of the bandits was present for the time being.

Colin: Looks like he's alone, does anyone want to make a move?

Scarlet: Me thinks that we should shoot him and kill him.

Knox: Hold up, we need him for information so ease off the bloodlust Scarlet. I'd say this task is as simple as ambushing him and forcing him to surrender.

Kathy: Then we simply must attack him and bring him to his knees.

Raphael: Why are wasting time talking, let's just beat this thug up and get the info off him.

The party goes out of hiding and walks up close to the bandit leader. Ready to face off against this foe. The Bandit leader sees the approaching party walking towards him and readies his blade for a fight.

Bandit Leader: Halt, what are you- wait a moment you're the coward from yesterday. You think cause you brought friends you are able to stop me? Ha! fat chance in hell.

Colin: I'll say this only once, tell us where the warlock is and we'll spare your life.

Knox: Why spare this thug, He'll just cause trouble for us in the future if we let him live.

Raphael: If he lives that's one more person to spread tales of our valor and heroics. but then again I do see your point, Knox.

Bandit Leader: Since your are all going to either die or run bleeding I'll tell you my name. Am Richard Steel and today will be the day you die!

Round 1

Scarlet moves and fires her gun with just enough force to knock Steel off his balance!

Knox follows suit but sadly misses his shot.

Kathy moves towards the boss and defends that turn.

Colin fires a bolt of fire but sadly couldn't break Steel's toughness.

Raphael Charges Colin's weapon with Lightning increasing its damage.

Round 2

Kathy moves behind Steel and tries to grapple him but fails to.

Colin moves up and slashes with his charged katana but the attack was barely parried.

Raphael moves a bit and empowers Scarlet's gun to deal increased damage.

Scarlet takes aim at her current position and fires her flintlock. The shock of the bullet manages to land the first wound on Steel!

As the wounds take their toll on Steel he bellows out. "Y-you bastards got lucky!"

Knox flanks Steel and fires a shot but the crossbow bolt was deflected by the heavy armor of the target.

Lastly, Steel starts to retreat from the fight and was able to avoid two attacks while moving to escape!

Round 3

Colin chases after Steel and casts a firebolt spell at him. and deals a stunning 12 damage shaking the foe of balance.

Scarlet fires an aimed shot at the bandit leader and inflicts a wound to the now barely standing thug.

"Wait! Don't shoot any more I yield!" shouts Richard Steel.

Combat ends

The party ties up the bandit and interrogates him.

Raphael begins the questioning

Raphael: Alright thug, I'll only say this once... where is the warlock you worked with?

Steel: I only worked with him for a short time, but I do know where he resides...

The bandit leader marks the location on the party's map and soon the five heroes were off.

The party finds a cave where the map says the warlock is hiding. Colin taking point he and the others move quietly through the cavern in search of the Warlock. They all spot the warlock silently working on a ritual of some kind.

Scarlet: We have the drop on him, me shoot him dead!

Knox: Hold up, that gun isn't made for long range, it might be best if we sneak a bit closer before fighting.

Raphael: We outnumber him five to one, am sure the coward will surrender if we make our presence known.

Kathy: We can simply crush him so why bother hiding?

Colin: Whatever we do we must be careful, who knows what magic his warlock wields?

The group continues discussing the methods of attack they can perform on the warlock and ultimately they decide on a stealth approach. With a successful stealth roll, Scarlet makes her way behind the warlock and points the loaded flintlock to the mage's head and says in an attempt to intimidate. "Me has a gun to your head, move and I'll blow your brains out!" She gets a bonus to the intimidate roll and rolls a 7.

"W-Wait, don't shoot me!" cried the warlock

At this point, the rest of the party shows up.

Colin: How about you return the gems you stole?

Warlock: You!? blast it! fine take them just don't kill me!

The Warlock takes the gems from his desk and tosses them towards Colin who catches them with a sweep of his hand.

Colin: Good, now you'll be coming best to Easting to take responsibility for your crimes.

Soon after a short trip back to Easting with the warlock held at gunpoint the party successfully put a stop to this warlock's plans and returned the gems to the dwarves that were attacked. who then pays them 40 gold each for the trouble. What tales will be told next time?
