Travelers of the Multiverse #2

Author's note: I switched the ruleset to Savage Worlds Adventure Edition because I like it better than risus. anyways enjoy.

Chapter 2 - The Stalker strikes!

The bat monster breaks through the window and gets the drop on Michael starting the combat encounter. Round 1 of combat starts with Michael rolling to notice target number being 4, rolled a 5 so Michael notices the bat monster stalking and can make their move. he chooses to shoot at the monster right now. Rolls a 15 thanks to exploding wild die. rolling damage, 4 damage it shakes the Bat Kaijin. Next, it's the Bat Kaijin's turn first it makes a spirit roll to remove the shaken. thanks to exploding d4 Bat Kaijin removes the shaken and can act as normal. he moves toward Michael and bites. rolling 13 on the fighting roll and dealing Str+d4 damage. they deal 4 damage to Michael with a dangerous bite! Ryan's turn, he chooses to melee attack the enemy wildly. rolls 9 damage + 2 (totaling 11 damage) thanks to attacking wildly however this leaves Ryan Vulnerable until his next turn. Round ends

Round 2 beings with the bat going first with a king of hearts and their first action is to spirit roll to unshake. rolls 6 thanks to exploding d4. its unshaken and ready to act. it attacks Ryan who is Vulnerable meaning actions like attacking are at +2. so, the Bat rolls fighting rolls 11 on that and then rolls 7 damage on Ryan. Michael's Turn starts with spirit rolling to unshake and manages a 3, Michael is still processing what is happening. and simply moves back from the Monster. as this happens the three yokai woman begin to shatter out of the home and to safety. Ryan's turn starts same as Michael with having to spirit roll to unshake...rolls a 9 thanks to wild die exploding. Ryan's blood is boiling with fury as his close friend and partner is being assaulted by this monster's maw. he wildly attacks again getting +2 on fighting roll and damage roll. but alas he is struggling to connect an attack and leaves himself wide open! Round 2 ends.

Round 3 Begins with the Bat Kaijin attacking Ryan up close with a wild attack of its own. its attack connects but fails to hurt Ryan in a way that matters. Ryan rolls to unshake, rolls a 7 and unshakes and proceeds to wild attack the monster again. rolls 8 with a raise. rolling a damage with a bonus d6 rolls 11 on damage. wounding and shaking the Bat Kaijin. Michael's turn comes and he spirit rolls to unshake and rejoin the fight, and it pays off as he comes to fully understand the situation. he readies his gun and rolls shooting to fire his revolver at the monster. he rolls 8 on that and deals 2d6 damage to the creature. 8 damage total and the monster is slain at last!

The party had just finished off the monster that looks exactly like Kagerou described except it was dead. Ryan having taken many wounds from protecting his teammate goes "Ow...Michael what was that thing!?" "Not a vampire but a monster straight from one of your Toku shows Ryo." The three Yokai woman step back inside the house and asked if its over...they knew it was with the dead corpse of the stalking monster dead on Kagerou's good tablecloth. "W-Whoa...I guess am free of being tracked. Thank you both for helping but was killing it... on second thought I don't want to know if it was necessary to kill it." "It just kept attacking, so yeah killing it seemed to be required." Ryan says, "Is this a yokai Michael" "Not any in my notes...just looks like a dumb toku monster to me."

With the job done well both Ryan and Michael return to John Bradford to collect their reward + 1000 Traveler credits good for any shop in the multiverse. "Good work you two, your friendship proved too strong for that monster...believe or not there are more reports of creatures like this one causing trouble in the multiverse" John explains "I doubt this bat thing was the last of them." Ryan raises a hand up and john nods to let him speak "What are those things?" "Soul Stealers...named such after reports of monsters similar to the ones the power rangers fight stealing what appear to be souls...now am a man of science but when death happens because they stole a soul am inclined to believe them. Their appearance came after a group of cultists begin sacrifices in the name of Alter Marik" "The guy who caused trouble for the first wave of Travelers!? one of the most dangerous people in the multiverse!?" Michael exclaims. John nods "Thats right, countless lives would have been lost of not for the actions of the Heroic Travelers. Anyways you both done well to stop this one, we'll be in touch."
