World of Gneiss Campaign #1

Author's Note: Hello this is me, Tommy playing Ironsworn again only this time am using my generic fantasy setting and making up stuff as I go usually anyways hope you enjoy!

Once upon a time in the world of Gneiss and on the province of Marble where humans and yokai co-exist, where adventurers travel and quest searching for ancient treasures hidden within the land's many ruins. where dragons are among the many rumors at the local tavern. our story begins with Kyo Nendo the Oni adventurer becoming a member of the Adventurer's Guild and accepting a quest to investigate mysterious murders in a town called Greenhorn. No connection is clear about the murders and the guild wants Kyo to find out who is killing and put a stop to it. Kyo makes it to the rather large town and starts asking the community of any signs of a killer.

It seems whoever is committing the murders is not alone as people talk of there being an accomplice to these crimes. but was there any description? no such luck. Kyo looks for an Inn to investigate further and finds themself within the Jade Dragon Inn. the Innkeeper is a human named Mikon Riverwood who welcomes the adventurer with open arms "Come in and rest your tired bones, Oni." as Kyo orders a mead the Innkeeper Mikon continues his good service by saying "What's one your mind, you seem lost." "Am investigating the recent murders on behalf of the adventurer's guild." "Oh, I don't envy you there...a real mess that situation is." "Do you know anything about the killings, Innkeeper?" asked Kyo "Not much other than that the victims are all women." "Is that so then, thanks for your time." "Leaving already? oh well it's your choice."

So far two things have been discovered, one is that the killer likely has an accomplice and two is that the victims are all women. aside from that Kyo is lost as to what to do so he continues gathering information but this time asking women more often. one lead manages to find a connection between the killings. their harvested of their vital organs after the deed is done, meaning whoever is involved must have skill in medical surgery. Having gained important insight into who the killer might be Kyo seeks out the head of medicine within Greenhorn. a poor overworked man is where Kyo's search led to. "You believe the killer could be one of us!?" said the man in shock. the man's name was Soranus. "The bodies had their organ's harvested, that requires medical knowledge for that to be true." "Now hold on, anyone can take out an organ. what makes you think a nurse or doctor has to be involved." "Why not a nurse or doctor? why else would a killer take organs?" "Mental illness could easily be the cause." "What if I found prove, would you help me track the killer and their ally down" "If you could provide at least basic evidence, I'd gladly help reduce the horrible loss of life." "I Vow to find prove, have no fear."

Kyo gathers more information by going to the locations of each killed person. A connection has been found; the killings have been done in dark alleyways within the town. Kyo searches up and down these alleys for any trace of the killer and their accomplice. Kyo instead finds the body of the head of medicine, Soranus! Kyo is deeply unnerved by the sight the body void of all vital organs as well. If this is a way of avoiding capture it did so in a bloody end for a man of medicine. but is there something about the corpse that can help get justice for its owner? the soul of Soranus is visible! Kyo couldn't believe his eyes, but it appears he can see the dead!

"S-Soranus!?" Kyo asked in shock "Is that really you?" "It appears I should have listened, but it seems my death may yet have purpose...I witnessed my own death, and it appears a former student of mine is working with their relative harvesting organs for use in black market trading" Soranus explained. "Who is this student?" Kyo asked "Their name is Doreius and their working with their brother Kleitos to make these bloody cash grabs...sickening. I was a fool not to take you seriously Kyo." "Where might those two be now?" "Working like I never died! please do something about them before another victim is made from my misplaced trust"

And so Kyo heads to the hospital in town and asked around for both Doreius and Kleitos. still shaken by the sight of Solanus's ghost and the thought that maybe Kyo is next filled his mind. could he see the ghosts of the past victims? he asked around, but the two fiends aren't in the hospital. So, he intends to try speaking to the victims' souls starting with the first woman killed named Milo. he finds their gravestone in the town's cemetery in haste believing the two killers are out there somewhere and know Kyo is tracking them down.
